OMS 25 success at Shelsley Walsh 8th May 2011

Four new OMS 25 cars competed at Shelsley Walsh Midland Hillclimb Championship meeting today.

Andy McBeath in his 1300cc supercharged car posted sub 30 second climbs on his first visit to the hill in the new car/engine combination.

James Blackmore had a very successful event in his 1598cc OMS 25. Finishing 3rd overall in his class in only his second meeting in the new car, he also qualified for both of the Avon BMTR Top 10 run off rounds. In the first round James was 9th overall & in the second run off 6th overall.

Steve Owen optimised the design modifications he made to the car during the winter months following the cars debut last season. Finishing 2nd in class to Will Hall, he too qualified for both of the top 10 run offs. In the first round Steve finished 7th and in the second round he finished 3rd.

Trevor Willis won the unlimited capacity single seater class ahead of Deryk Young. He was top qualifier in the first run off which he won with a time of 25.25 seconds. Rain fell during the class runs as the 2 litre cars were running, leaving a damp track for class L cars to attempt to qualify. Trevor was the only class L car to make the cut and he put in a typically commited Trevor run, to win the run off & set FTD with a time of 24.67 seconds.
