OMS at Gurston Down
The Leaders Hillclimb Championship rounds at Gurston Down in Wiltshire always attract a large number of OMS drivers from across the UK and the Channel Islands.
At this weekends meeting Sarah Gaudion brought the ex Steve & Lynn Owen OMS CF10 over from Guernsey. Sarah is the ladies record holder in Alderney and today she set a personal best time in only her second drive in this car at Gurston.
Olivia Cooper was once again flying in her & husband Liams' OMS CF 1100. Olivia is a regular points scorer in the Leaders Championship and today she finished 6th in class to bag the last class point from John Rutland. She was a mere 8 hundreths behind Simon Rutland and only 0.25 seconds behind her father Richard Brown.
In the up to 1600cc single seater class James Blackmore, Tim Wilson, Lee Griffiths and Neville Rollason drove their OMS 25's here for the first time. All improved on each run but James had the upper hand finishing ahead of his fellow OMS drivers.
Trevor Willis qualified the V8 OMS 25 for both Nicholson McLaren British Hillclimb Championship run offs. Running a lower powered engine than front runners Scott Moran and Wallace Menzies, Trevor took 3rd place in each run off. Despite a speed deficit at the finish of between 10 and 15mph to Scott and Wallace Trevor gave it his all, loosing out to Wallace in the second run off by just 1 one hundreth of a second.
