In the Summer Time ..

This weekend the Midland Hill Climb Championship visited Prescott hillclimb. For the first time this season  glorious weather conditions prevailed all weekend, leading to many OMS drivers setting personal best times at the venue.

In the 1100cc single seater class Jedi driver Chris Aspinal accepted an offer of a share drive with Clive Austin in the OMS 2000M Kawasaki, following engine problems at Loton Park two weeks ago. Clive ascended the hill with a personal best time & finishing in the points with 6th in class and co-driver Chris finished 2nd in class setting a time of 41.27 seconds on his first ever drive in the car. Simon Andrews and Bernard Kevill are having a good first season in the ex Trevor Willis OMS 2000V that now runs a Suzuki 1000. Simon finished 4th in class and Bernard just outside a class points scoring position in 7th. Tony Millard in his Hornet finished just behind Bernard in 8th.

Seven OMS cars competed in the 1600cc single seater class. Neville Rollason finished 3rd in class in his OMS 25 setting a personal best time of 41.02 seconds, closely followed by co-driver Craig Bates who also set a PB of 41.40 seconds. Fifth in class went to Chris Green in the ex Tim Wilson OMS 2000M Honda on a 42.30 & his father Keith Green finished on a 44.09

Tina Hawkes, who drives the ex Steve & Lynn Owen Hornet, is really getting to grips with the car and set a PB of 43.35 just ahead of Richard & Lindsey Summers in the OMS CF97 Honda.

Neville Rollason's second class run qualified him for the Avon BMTR Top Ten Challenge, the first time Nev has qualified the new car for a run off. A good weekend for Nev, he scored points in the run off and won a class trophy.

OMS 25 drivers James Blackmore & Trevor Willis were both entered for the event but neither were able to compete. James had to cancel due to other commitments and Trevor was repairing his car following the Doune event last weekend where he contacted the barriers. Both will be out at Harewood next weekend for the Nicholson McLaren British Hillclimb Championship meeting.
