Good Times....
for three OMS owners at Shelsley Walsh Midland Hillclimb Championship meeting today. 1600cc single seater drivers Craig Bates and Neville Rollason both set personal best times at the venue in their OMS 25 as did Tina Hawkes in her OMS Hornet.
Tina put in two excellent timed runs both in the 28's, which placed her in the top 6 in class, scoring Midland Championship class points for the first time in the OMS & her highest placing since aquiring the ex Steve & Lynn Owen car. A tremendous result with a 1300cc standard Hayabusa engine, mixing it in the top 6 with the larger 1598cc fully tuned cars in the class.
Neville set his personal best time at 27.36 seconds and co-driver Craig's personal best 28.11 seconds. Nev's times qualified him for both Avon BMTR Top 10 Challenge run offs, finishing in the points in 9th place in both run offs.
Andy McBeath in the supercharged Haybusa OMS 25 put in strong times, with Andy finishing 6th in class on a 27.79 second run. A closely fought class, places 4 - 6 were covered by a mere 18/100 of a second. Andy also qualified the OMS for his first Midland Hillclimb Championship run off in this car.
Tomorrows Shelsley event is the summer classic meeting and although not driving an OMS, look out for Geoff Harrison and his son driving their Austin 7. Some of you will recognise Geoff from Harewood, where he is the senior scrutineer.
