Wish You Were Here
It is always the meetings that you don't go to that seem to be the best ones. Competitors made the journey to Wiscombe Park in Devon for a very well organised meeting that offered drivers 3 practice runs on Saturday plus Sunday morning practice. The competition was fierce as the Nicholson McLaren British and Leaders Hillclimb Championships now move into the second half of the season.
A number of OMS drivers competed in the single seater classes including Olivia & Liam Cooper in their OMS CF 1100. Mike Lee who is a front runner in the South West, qualified his OMS 2000M 1600 for the second of the two Top 12 Run Offs.
Trevor Willis in the V8 OMS 25 was fastest qualifier for both run offs. Unfortunately in both run offs he failed to be quickest & had to settle with 2nd in each. His best time of 34.92 was one of only two drivers achieving a 34 second run. At this stage in the season 18 points are a good result to maintain his current championship position.
Samuel Wilson visited the meeting with his father, OMS 25 driver Tim Wilson. Trevor told Steve that "Without Samuel in attendance I would have struggled today. His assistance with starting the car & removing the tyres covers proved invaluable".
