Seaside Shuffle
The spectacle that is the Brighton Speed Trial took place at the East Sussex venue on Saturday. The event is always a huge crowd pleaser and attracts a diverse range of cars & motorcycles to compete on the seafront over the quarter mile sprint distance.
Out of the 128 entries there were a number of OMS drivers competing, including Ian Davies in his 1100cc OMS R/A single seater who won his class. In the 1600cc racing car class Carole Torkington and Bill Gouldthorpe were sharing the ex Steve Broughton OMS CF08. Both put in good times for the first class runs with Carole having the upper hand. This was how they finished in the overall class positions, due to rain falling before second timed runs had been completed.
Mike Lee in his 1600cc OMS 2000M set a time of 10.60 seconds to complete the quarter mile and take 2nd fastest time of day, just missing out on overall FTD by 1/100th of a second.
