The Day That The Rains Came Down
The BARC South West Centre team were back at Gurston Down Hillclimb only 2 weeks after the British Hillclimb Championbship meeting over the August Bank Holiday weekend. The club were hosting the final round of the 2011 Gurston Down Hillclimb Championship. With a poor weather forecast for the weekend rain was expected at some point during the event and it began to fall during the second timed runs, having stayed dry for the first runs.
The 1100 racing car class was won by Callum Kemp with a time of 32.32 seconds, driving the OMS P/R he shares with his brother Euan. James Blackmore won the 1600 racing car class in his OMS 25, with a time of 29.32 seconds set on the first class run. James did not take a second class run due to the wet weather conditions, knowing that he would not improve on his opening time.
Andy McBeath finished 3rd in the 2000cc racing car class driving the supercharged OMS 25. The wet weather condtions arrived before Andy took a second run, preventing him from improving his class position
