New Kid in Town
The Jersey Liberation day hillclimb event took place on Wednesday 9 May at Bouley Bay. There was a strong OMS entry in the single seater classes, with Richard Twinham topping the 1100 cc class in his OMS 2000M.
Six OMS cars competed in the 1600cc class finishing 2nd through to 7th position, with Glyn Moignard in his 2000M being edged out of first place by Nick Saunders by 4/10ths. Sarah Gaudion set a personal best time in her CF08 with 43.61 a mere 2/100ths a drift of Glyn Moignard on 43.59. Justin & Charlie Smith finished 4th & 5th on their first event at Bouley Bay in the newly acquired red bull liveried OMS 25. Jersey residents Cath & Steve Elliott ran in their OMS 2000M finishing 6th & 7th with Steve setting a new PB of 44.64 seconds.
Single seaters up to 2 litre saw regular protagonists Jason Mourant in his brand new OMS 25 and Geoff Guille in the family OMS CF04. Jason collected the rolling chassis from the UK less than two weeks before the meeting, leaving him very little time to assemble the car for the Liberation Day meeting. Jason's time of 42.79 seconds left him shy of Geoff's 42.12 which won Geoff the class and Fastest Time of Day.
Jason's OMS 25 rolling chassis leaving the OMS works on 27th April prior to engine installation by Jason for the Liberation Day meeting.
