Out On the Weekend

The cream of British hillclimbing attended the awards presentation and dinner on the evening of Saturday 12th January, to celebrate the successes of the 2012 Avon Tyres MSA British Hillclimb Championship.

The evening was hosted by championship coordinators Tim & Jackie Wilson on behalf of the BARC and the event was held for the first time at the Telford Hotel and Golf Resort, in Shropshire. Guests included representatives from the MSA, members of BARC council including their Chairman Simon Clark, along with championship sponsors Avon Tyres and the TCC Group.

This photograph shows newly crowned British Hillclimb Champion Trevor Willis collecting his award accompanied by Lynn Owen of OMS Racing.

Helping him to celebrate on the evening were fellow OMS drivers, friends and family, along with hillclimbers past & present including Ray Rowan the 1989 British Hillclimb Champion and former British Sprint Championship sponsor David Render. Joining in the celebration were the Brehaut, Smith and Gaudion families who travelled over from Guernsey for the evening. Ex-hillclimber Basil Pitt presented Trevor with a cheque to buy a set of Avon tyres, following his promise during the season that he would buy Trevor a new set of tyres if he won the title.

Trevor received a standing ovation as he walked up to collect his award and following the presentation he delivered one of his trademark thank you speeches, in which he thanked John & Simon Rutland, Mike Fitzsimons and Samuel Wilson for their help and he paid tribute to Lynn & Steve Owen.

Trevor and OMS Racing would like to thank all those who sent messages of congratulations and for all the good wishes they have received.
