.... Another Planet

Or so it would appear judging by the weather conditions and Fastest Time of Day at Barbon Manor Hill Climb in Cumbria: the venue for today's Avon Tyres/TTC Group MSA British Hillclimb Championship meeting.

Whilst the author of this news bulletin is enjoying glorious sunshine in Yorkshire, across the Pennines in Cumbria the story has been very different for rounds 3 & 4 of the British Hillclimb Chamionship. Rain fell all morning making for very difficult paddock & track conditions. The ensuing delay resulted in drivers only being able to take one practice run, as opposed to the usual two runs before the timed runs commence.

Fastest in practice, Trevor Willis in his new OMS 28 V8 powered single seater, set the pace in the timed runs, out qualifying the rest of the field. His form continued in the first and only Top 12 Championship run off. There were a number of delays during the run off, including a couple of mechanical difficulties for two drivers and an off for another. Trevor was indeed on another planet as far as his driving was concerned, the only driver to post a sub 22 second run his time of 21.69 seconds gave him the first British Hillclimb Championship win for an OMS 28 chassis and a 6/10ths advantage over second placed Wallace Menzies.

Due to the impact of the weather & time constraints, round 4 of the British Hillclimb Championship Top 12 run off was cancelled.
