Start Me Up
Steve & Lynn Owen debuted their long awaited 1600cc OMS 28; sister car to the Trevor Willis machine seen for the first time at Prescott in April. Three years exactly since the surprise launch of the OMS 25, Steve once again chose Harewood Hill Climb as the venue to launch the new car.
Running for the first time with no testing prior to the meeting, there was a couple of initial teething problems with the ECU & electrics during morning practice, but the 28 quickly began to deliver respectable times.
BARC Yorkshire Centre was hosting the British Hillclimb and Leaders Championship for the second time this season, alongside their own Harewood Hill Climb Championship meeting which ran on Saturday afternoon after practice had finished for the national competitors.
Steve vied for Fastest Time of Day with fellow OMS driver John Chacksfield in his ex-Lynn & Steve Owen 2 Ltr CF04 and today John had the upper hand with a time of 54.24 over Steve's 54.41 seconds. John maintained his maximum score in the Harewood FTD Championship taking his points total to 40, leaving him the clear leader.
Steve & Lynn will shake down the car once again at Harewood on 3rd & 4th August prior to the British Championship meeting at Shelsley Walsh on 17th & 18th August.
