Sweetest Thing
In sport the taste of success is sweet and it is the driver for even greater sporting achievement. One hillclimb competitor tasted success at the weekend when she reached her long held goal: to climb Guernsey's Les Val des Terres hillclimb in under 30 seconds.
Ladies outright hill record holder Sarah Gaudion had come tantalisingly close when she re-set her own record in 2013 with a time of 30.01 seconds. At Saturday's event she broke through the barrier with her time of 29.95 seconds, setting a new ladies outright hill record and making her the first lady to ever run a sub 30 climb at the venue. A superb effort from Sarah and one that would not have been possible without the constant support of her mum and dad Joyce and Gordon Brehaut.

Fellow 1600cc race car class runners Justin and Charlie Smith gave Sarah some strong competition for class honours, with Justin just sneaking ahead of Sarah with his time of 29.84 seconds.
OMS P/R driver Ricky le Cheminant who has also run a sub 30 climb, couldn't quite match his personal best time and finished on 30.48 in the 1100cc racing car class.
