New Ladies Record
Guernsey's Sarah Gaudion set another new ladies outright hill record at Le Val des Terres Hillclimb on Saturday 18th July. Having previously set the record at a Guernsey Kart and Motor Club meeting in 2014, she now holds the title with both organising clubs for events on the hill. The national meeting organised by Guernsey Motor Cycle and Car Club saw Sarah once again dip below the 30 second barrier, recording her best time of the day at 29.95 seconds.
The time also qualified Sarah for the first of the Avon Tyres/TCC Group MSA British Hill Climb Championship top twelve run offs: her first ever British run off qualification. But a suspension failure after leaving the start line resulted in a 360 degree spin on the ascent into the first corner, leaving the car beached on the pavement with some minor damage.
Despite the disappointing result in the run off Sarah still delighted her mum Joyce Brehaut, who was celebrating her 65th birthday at the event. A new ladies record and a run off qualification by her daughter were a perfect birthday gift.
