Steve posted the same time as Tony Hunt in the Gould GR55 so as a result thirteen drivers competed in the second run off. Having missed the opening rounds of the Championship at Prescott in April, this was the first BHC event Steve had competed in this season with the car and its first top twelve run off. He commented that although the car is still in the early stages of development, he was extremely encouraged by its performance and the fact that it matched the top speed on the straight of class front runner Simon Fidoe who is in his third season with his Empire car.
The MSA Hillclimb Leaders Championship also ran at the event and in the class for racing cars up to 1100cc Simon Fidoe took the class win on 53.60s from Steve's best time 54.68 seconds. Both drivers qualified for the second BHC run off. Simon posted a slower time 53.91s in the run off than his qualifier, whilst Steve improved on his qualifier to set a personal best time in this car 54.43 seconds. Neither driver scored championship points, with both finishing outside of the top ten.
