Barbon Manor
Barbon Hillclimb course is situated in the grounds of Barbon Manor, just outside the village of Barbon in Cumbria. Opened in 1950, Barbon Manor is home to the shortest hillclimb in the UK at 675 metres.
The event MSA British Hillclimb Championship meeting on Saturday 3rd July was held in rather challenging conditions this year, with the track changing from dry to wet and back to dry again. A correct tyre choice was crucial for the British Hillclimb and Hillclimb Leaders Championship competitors hoping to score points.
Wil Ker and Ben Hamer had a disappointing day, their 748cc turbo charged OMS CF09 would not run and both drivers retired from the event. Running in the 1100cc racing car class with Wil and Ben was Simon Bailey in his OMS 2000M. Simon's best time was a 29.12s placing him 5th overall in class.
The only other OMS driver at the event was Trevor Willis (OMS 28 V8), who is currently 2nd overall in the 2016 British Hillclimb Championship points table, behind his perennial adversary Scott Moran.
Once again the pair duelled for top honours, Scott took the mornings' BHC Round 15 Run Off win and Trevor finished second. In the afternoon the tables were turned and Trevor was the winner, his fourth BHC round win of the season.
Following prize giving the championship drivers then journeyed over the Pennines into Yorkshire, home of Harewood Hillclimb near Harrogate, for the next two championship rounds on Sunday 3rd July.
